ResMed ApneaLink Air (Level 3) & Somnomedics (Level 2)

Key Benefits

Comfortable testing in the patient’s home
More natural sleep patterns compared to lab environments
Cost-effective alternative to full in-lab polysomnography
Reduces waiting time for sleep study appointments

Product Overview

This package includes two validated and industry-standard sleep diagnostic systems used for Level 2 and Level 3 sleep studies, providing comprehensive sleep disorder diagnosis in the comfort of your home. **ResMed ApneaLink Air (Level 3):** A Level 3 sleep study is a simplified, unattended test primarily designed for diagnosing sleep-disordered breathing, such as obstructive sleep apnea. The ResMed ApneaLink Air is a Type III HSAT device that focuses on monitoring respiratory and cardiovascular parameters without assessing brain activity. It measures nasal airflow via pressure transducer, respiratory effort (thoracic and abdominal), oxygen saturation (SpO2), pulse rate, snoring intensity, and body position. This device follows AASM scoring rules and provides automated indices such as AHI (Apnea-Hypopnea Index) and ODI (Oxygen Desaturation Index) for efficient OSA assessment. Level 3 studies are best suited for individuals with a high pre-test probability of moderate to severe OSA, based on clinical evaluations. They are simpler to use and more user-friendly for home testing, making them ideal for focused OSA screening when other sleep disorders are not suspected. **Somnomedics Level 2 Devices (SOMNOtouch RESP & SOMNOscreen Plus):** A Level 2 sleep study is an unattended, comprehensive test conducted in the comfort of your home that closely mirrors an in-lab polysomnography (Level 1). Due to its comprehensive nature, a Level 2 study can diagnose a broader range of sleep disorders including Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), Central Sleep Apnea (CSA), Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMD), and other sleep-related conditions. The SOMNOtouch RESP is an ultra-compact, lightweight Level 2 portable polysomnography device weighing only 64 grams (approximately the size of a credit card), designed for maximum patient comfort during home sleep studies. It features a high-resolution touchscreen display, integrated sensors for pressure-based flow and snore detection, thoracic and abdominal effort monitoring, SpO2 and pulse rate measurement, body position and movement detection, and CPAP/BiPAP pressure monitoring. The SOMNOtouch RESP supports up to 16 additional channels via auxiliary connectors, including PLM, ECG, EEG, EOG, and EMG for comprehensive sleep analysis, and features Intelligent Connect™ technology for automatic sensor recognition. The SOMNOscreen Plus is a comprehensive Level 2 portable polysomnography system featuring a 17-channel headbox expandable to 32 channels, providing extensive physiological monitoring including 12 EEG/EOG channels with continuous impedance recording, 2 EMG channels, 1 ECG channel, 2 PLM channels, pressure sensors, flow thermistor, effort sensors, SpO2 sensors, body position sensors, CPAP/BiPAP pressure monitoring, and a microphone for snore detection. The SOMNOscreen Plus features wireless data receiver for real-time data transfer, optional video recording with integrated infrared illumination, and patented technology for continuous, undisturbed blood pressure measurement during sleep. With 20+ channels and high-resolution data acquisition, both Somnomedics devices offer comprehensive PSG data equivalent to in-lab sleep studies, making them ideal for detailed sleep architecture analysis and diagnosis of complex sleep disorders. Level 2 studies are ideal for individuals who require an extensive evaluation of their sleep but prefer the convenience of testing at home, particularly those who may find it challenging to sleep in a laboratory setting.
